| Posted: 29 Mar 2011 08:47 AM PDT Combination is a mobile phone concept with a steady front-end faceplate and modular components for the backend. The modular parts ensure you have the latest upgraded components. It even comes with a charging dock that doubles up as transmission hub and transforms the mobile phone into a regular home phone! So now you get a two-in-one combo deal! Designers: Wen-Tsung Lin & Wan-Rurng Hung ---------- |
| Posted: 29 Mar 2011 08:45 AM PDT Well lookie-here, isn’t this clever? Handlebars is bike lock built-in into… you guessed it, the handlebars. Push the handlebars down and pull out to engage the steel cable wires. Although clever, the system doesn’t address the theft of individual bike components when not properly locked down, e.g. wheels. | Posted: 29 Mar 2011 08:39 AM PDT Look at the irony in nature, the very same river that quenches your thirst turns into a toxic monster once it floods your city. The Health Light is a solar powered system that looks at alleviating such situations. You simply need to set up the purifier in bacteria contaminated water and let it do its work. Pretty soon it detoxifies a considerable amount of water through a filtration process and makes it fit enough to be consumed. Designer: Liu Yun ---------- |
| Paddle Task Light Inspired by Canoe Oar Posted: 29 Mar 2011 03:19 AM PDT Just ahead of its debut at Salone Del mobile, Paddle is a collection of adjustable LED task lights designed by Benjamin Hubert for Italian lighting manufacturer Fabbian. Named for a canoe blade wading through water inspired by the 360º movement; the framework is available in lacquered aluminum or warm ash timber, but both feature touch controls to adjust brightness. It’s utilitarian, architectural and tactile. Kudos Benjamin! Designer: Benjamin Hubert for Fabbian ---------- |
| Posted: 29 Mar 2011 12:02 AM PDT Remember those egg-shaped Henrik Thor-Larsen chairs that were all the rage in the 60s? Well, this is kinda like that but a tad minimal and a whole lot more nimble. It’s the ZzZen chair and it rocks… literally. There isn’t a single straight edge allowing it to roll back-and-forth or side-to-side. Durable and lightweight plastic make it functional as an indoor or outdoor chair while it’s low reclined seating position optimizes comfort. Yogis are sure to love. | Posted: 29 Mar 2011 12:01 AM PDT I’m totally one of those people who’s gotta keep moving to focus on mundane tasks. I’m constantly fidgeting with pens, paper clips, or even just moving my mouse around while I read. As a kid, squirminess was by far my teachers’ biggest complaint. Squizits was made for kids like me! Developed in collaboration with a child with OCD and ADHD, Squizits provides children with a way to release excess energy through repetitive hand motions and various fidgets. Not just for kids- I think I may need the kit now! Designer: Lavinia Chu ---------- |
| Posted: 29 Mar 2011 12:01 AM PDT This piece by designer Tom Fereday features clean lines, clear functionality, and an overall look of simplicity. The hand crafted American oak veneer with miter detail wraps perfectly around the natural wool felt upholstery, and the color is fantastic. It also happens to be perfectly compact.
