The objective is to create an accessible flat-pack leisure boat designed for flat water environments. The 2.5m vessel can be folded and packed into a small 150cm x 60cm parcel. Someone call IKEA! The product targets an outdoor activity market; water lovers, campers as well as potential boat owners. A secondary market could be applications for NGO’s responding quickly to natural disasters. Save your money because someday it’ll give you “wings to your dreams.” We’re slowly moving to an age where tangible currency is becoming more or less wasteful and inefficient. Sure, you can save money digitally but it’s a little more satisfying to hear the “thud” of a dropped coin don’t you think? The INgSOC, by designers Edward Kim and Benny Cemoli, combines the aerodynamic shapes of triathlon designs, flexible handling of traditional bikes, and advanced hybrid power technology into one super-efficient commuting machine that (to say the least) looks, well… unearthly! The frame is constructed from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) for its high strength yield to weight ratio. Adaptability comes from mono-direction reinforcing of the frame, directing stiffness by orienting carbon fiber strains along a projected trajectory. The battery which powers the motor, integrated front and rear lights, as well as a charging dock for communication devices, entertainment, or navigation is directly charged from the rider’s own energy output to maximize efficiency. Though the fabric looks soft & squishy, it is very rigid making it sturdy enough to hang or hold the weight of a sitting person. | A Little Improvement Goes a Long Way Posted: 19 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT Vapen is a simple, yet ingenious improvement on the guide dog harness that incorporates a ball joint socket into the handle of the harness, providing people with visual impairments strengthened communication with their animal and improving ergonomics for their hand. The ball joint socket also allows the harness to be reassembled into a walking cane, reducing the number of items the user must carry.
