| Posted: 22 Jul 2011 08:13 AM PDT Tandem is a storage space, a seat and a side table all at once. It just depends on how you use it. Multifunctional is the name of this game. Store your laptop, phone, books and magazines inside the cubby holes. A work top rotates 360º to become a quick workstation and use the whole thing as a stool too. Made of white oak, it imparts a sense of refinement. The wood isn’t heavily treated. The core however is made of aluminum to provide strength. Like it? Designer: Geoffrey Graven ---------- |
| Posted: 22 Jul 2011 07:05 AM PDT One of the things with product design is that we need to let the experts figure out the "How" and concentrate on the design solution at hand. So when it comes to the question of how to make a computer mouse compact, portable yet feel like the true-blue desktop version, we'll leave the figuring of technology to the techies and concentrate on a compact disc-esque mouse (disk+Mouse) that sits in the laptop tray when not needed. And cones up to a 3-D full grip version when required. Brilliant, if you ask me! disk+Mouse is a 2011 Sparks Concept Design Award entry. Designer: Seung Han Jung ---------- |
| Posted: 22 Jul 2011 06:47 AM PDT E-M – Electronic Melody Lamp is an awesome piece of creation that is made from biodegradable materials, LED and solar paneling. Besides being decorative and functional, I love the way you can twist and create magical luminous lines that are different everyday. Let your imagination get the better of you! | Posted: 22 Jul 2011 12:02 AM PDT Besides looking just plain sexy, the Shavit electric sport motorcycle features a very unique riding position system that makes shifting from everyday upright stance to racetrack oriented lean as easy as the push of a button. Handlebars, footpads, and seat height can be adjusted independently, allowing the bike to morph from racing superbike to urban tourer. Emphasizing the lack of a bulky fuel tank, the chassis and body are kept minimal but maintain the sharp, aggressive look of its street racer inspiration. Designer: Eyal Melnick ---------- |
| Posted: 22 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT One good thing about growing up on a ranch is that I ended up with a bit of a green thumb, but even though I’m a big city kid now, I still appreciate the idea of growing my own food! Eat Play Grow is a “growing table” that promotes early education in growing vegetables & herbs from home. Fit with a watertight container for potting, storage for tools & seeds, & a chopping board surface, the table encourages interaction with plants & veggies from a young age & can even help picky eaters learn to love their veggies! | Posted: 22 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT Giving a nod to its avian inspiration, the Airline Furniture collection of seating and shelving by Jeremy Heitz is constructed of used parts taken from various aircraft and reflects the shapes and sturdiness of the planes they came from. Here the HB-Table and HB-Shelf (named after the Swiss aircraft from which they were formed) are made from an adapted wing and accented with glass to make the rigid aircraft rib construction visible.
