Learning Tool for Deaf Children

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 08:32 AM PDT

The VV-Talker is a device designed for deaf children to help them overcome their problem in speaking effectively. If you can’t hear the sounds you make, it’s difficult to know if you’re pronouncing it correctly. The device has a screen attached to a wand. Sounds are associated with vibrations. As the child speaks, the device provides feedback on accuracy and teaches the child to speak with the correct “vocal vibrations” to achieve the correct modulation. Brills!

The Ultimate Bike Handle

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 08:26 AM PDT

Okay first of all, WOW. The simply named Bike Lock probably took some real ingenuity to create and I would LOVE to see a prototype. The handle itself can be detached from the main frame and used as modified bike lock but wait, there’s more. It can also function as a bike stand when you park it indoors. CLEVER!

Double The Camera Fun

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 02:26 AM PDT

The 2Duo concept camera features Dual Lens and Dual LCDs so that you can get maximum perfection out of your photography. Self-portraits or 3-D kinda pics, this camera helps you do all sorts of things to make you trigger-happy. The 2-way hinge structure rotates at 90-degree angle and 360-degree angle, allowing you to take some awesome photos with unbelievable angle-shots! Given the number of apps and tricks that I am using to perfect ordinary shots, this kinda camera just fires my imagination and creativity.

2Duo Concept Camera is a 2011 Sparks Award Entry.

Light as a Feather Shelving

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT

Plyght is a clever shelving design by Joeri Reynaert that features a long, fluid bend on its wall side that not only stabilizes items but hides its fixture elements, giving the appearance that its thin body is floating effortlessly against the wall. To accent the the illusion, this functional prototype also integrates upwards and downwards lighting. Molded wood and 3D veneers give this modern presentation a retro feel that will fit nicely into both contemporary and classic settings.

Bendable Bike Locks

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT

If you’re a city bike rider you know that on busy days you’ll be lucky to find an open bike rack. Most only have room for two bikes and even if you find one with an open side you know its going to take some puzzle-work to place your bike close enough to use your U-lock. Well, why not make the bike rack form to your bike instead?? That’s precisely what designers at KEHA3 wondered when they created these heavy-duty bendable bike holders- Grazz & Tulip Fun Fun! Both the flexible cables and Grazz’s metal rings are coated in elastic and plastic to protect bikes from scratches.

No Cars, No Problem

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT

When designing this conceptual project, designer Robert Hagenstrom imagined a world untouched by the automotive industry- a world that had never seen a car. What would urban transport look like if it were invented right at this moment? Likely not the expansive yet restrictive traffic system in place today. With Urban Flower, getting around is re-imagined as safe, electric, uninterrupted smoothness…

Lanes, traffic lights, zebra crossings, standard parking lots, and the car itself would be replaced with compact, solar powered charging stations, and public personal vehicles available at the swipe of a credit card. The personal craft would navigate the streets much in the same way as a person on a crowded sidewalk; aware of surrounding objects, and in constant communication others around it, avoiding congestion as it navigates unique routes to its destination.
