Talk About Tea Fishing and Cans!

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 03:41 AM PST

I confess that I have a thing for quirky everyday items. On first glance they may seem unnecessary and frivolous but if you dig deeper, you cultivate the fine art of design appreciation. I have picked four of my favorite from the Yanko Design Store, and I am sure you will agree that all four are surefire hit as conversation starters!

Cuppa Can by Thabto [ Buy it Here ]

An elegant double walled porcelain mug shaped like a regular soda can! It comes with a silicone lid to contain the piping hot brew.

My Eco Can by PLA STUDIO [ Buy it Here ]

My Eco Can is an eco friendly reusable water bottle shaped like a regular soda can. It is crafted from natural corn starch and is durable enough to be your thirst quencher for a very long time. Works good with hot as well as cold beverages.

Tea Fishing by AbelPartners Design Studio [ Buy it Here ]

Love the way this tea bag holder solves the problem of tea bag placements in your hot cuppa brew!

Tea Diver by AbelPartners Design Studio [ Buy it Here ]

Tea Diver is is inspired by the shape of Korean traditional diver, Meoguri, which only relies on a string of Oxygen tank to explore the deep sea.

Know When to Push and Pull

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 02:31 AM PST

Just the other day I walked into a glass door of a store, simply because the design of the frame was 'invisible' to my cluttered mind. What I mean to say is that doors in public places can be a source of embarrassment to many. You can end up pulling a knob or pushing the wrong way, much to amusement of your companions. An easy and intuitive solution is this Arrow Door Handle. You'd have to be a fool not to figure out which is the right way to open!

Not For Arachnophobes

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 12:02 AM PST

Even if you’re afraid of spiders, there’s no denying the beauty of this unique pendant lamp. Webster is made completely out of hot-glue strands using a dab-and-stretch technique (and a whole lotta patience!). The countless strands form an intricate orb that diffuses the light, reducing glare and softening the ambient glow. Do want!

Domestic 3D Printing

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 12:01 AM PST

This DIY 3D printer design combines many features seen on other popular printers but features an exterior casing of molded plastic and wood veneer that is aesthetically more suitable for use at home. An optional iPhone connection also offers a quick read of statistics, progress, temperature and other data. It’s a glimpse into what the take-home 3D printer of the future might look like if/when they are ever available. Fingers crossed!

Environmental Twist

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 12:01 AM PST

Witnessing first-hand the incredible amount of plastic waste he and his coworkers were using every day for their packed lunches, designer Nick Burrows was inspired to take matters into his own hands and develop an alternative solution that doesn’t just reduce plastic waste but eliminates it altogether. Twist allows you to seal/unseal your meal, microwave, and eat your meal, all with one piece of reusable silicone. Major props because, after all- prevention is the most environmentally preferable means of reducing any kind of waste.
