This time around it was designer Peter Zsolt Koren. His “In-spiral” bangle bracelet/watch design looks acceptable on either on a wrist or a desktop. This rail system design adjust through every other line and locks magnetically. Designer: Peter Zsolt Koren |
| Posted: 03 Jul 2008 01:35 PM CDT I just saw the Pixar movie “Wall*E” the other evening and I will state for the record that it was amazing. In the film, our near future world has becomes unlivable due to mass consumption and no place to put our mountains of garbage. The hero of the film (Wall*E) is programmed to help clean up Earth and has labored for hundreds of years compacting trash and stacking into giant towers. It was a very sad look into our possible future but a possibility never the less. Rubber tire disposal is a real problem for landfills all over the world. These mountains of tires are not only massive but also very dangerous. Fires that break out on these dumps are almost impossible to put out and have been raging for decades, releasing dangerous toxins into the atmosphere. This “Re-Tyre” concept by Carl Menary is a step in the right direction to help find new ways to repurpose these disposed tires. Carl has ingeniously remolded tires into seating that is perfect for outdoor areas like parks, patios and other public spaces. Designer: Carl Menary [ Via: DesignZen ] |
| Really Easy Install Twist Chair Posted: 03 Jul 2008 12:32 PM CDT I’m going to imagine I have a huge house with an expansive yard and every big yard needs seating, so instead of the normal 4 legs that make up a chair, I get the Twist, a chair with a corkscrew base. Yes, just twist it down into the ground until it’s stable and sit at your heart’s content. Sure it’s a little impractical but have a sense of humor will ya? Just be careful not to spin in it or you’ll end up in China. Designer: Nick Ross |
| Posted: 03 Jul 2008 12:10 PM CDT In their first collaboration, Maeda designed the Timetanium which was inspired by Time. His second design, the Emoretion, drew from Emotion. His newest design, the Struccess, comes from Law #9: Failure. Maeda says, "if you fail, keep trying – struggle to reach some form of success." Using three of Reebok's state-of-the-art technologies, the InstaPump Fury is Professor Maeda's canvas, and his handwritten code that decorates the shoe's lining creates puddles of graphics all over the shoe. With so many parts – from the pump to the carpet fiber to the Hexalite – it's a whole different animal. Only 300 pairs of these electrifying sneakers will be available as of July 2nd for $200 but only a portion will be available on Reebok's website here in the US.
