Worlds Longest Table for all Cultures

Posted: 15 Jul 2008 07:33 AM CDT

Architects always seem to be dreaming of the world’s tallest buildings, even though most people who’ve ever lived or worked in one will likely tell you they hate it. So it would not come as much of a surprise to learn that it is an architectural firm, UNStudio, behind the world’s longest table for all cultures. What is surprising however is that they managed to make it look quite down to earth considering its impressive dimensions. The concept is that it provides a modular place for different types of activities, from intimate and secluded to formal meetings for bigger groups. So how long is it exactly you ask? 55m to be exact. Pass the butter!

Central Train Station to get a Space Age Facelift

Posted: 15 Jul 2008 02:12 AM CDT

Norway's largest train station located in Oslo is soon to get a new and futuristic look. What once was the typical European architectural style of the station, will soon have a new and funky image. The architect group Space Group won first place with their design idea for Oslo's Central Station. The new design idea is created to make Oslos' Central Station the largest in Europe. The structure will be four stories tall with two of the upper stories to be used as office space. Inside the station will also allow for shopping, restaurants and event areas. Also included in the re-design of the Central Station is an adjacent "U-shaped" building which will house the largest conference Hotel in Norway. At only a mere 361 million Euros, the construction on the project will begin in 2013 with completion somewhere around five to ten years.

Hood Air © is an innovative new product that takes on two things close to my heart, messenger bags and strange places to fall asleep.  To change functions from bag to travel hood, unzip the two halves of the courier bag and secure with a simple popper, then blow to inflate. Now you got a nice cushion to rest on along with privacy. Hood Air © is made from welded polyurethane plastic and high visibility neoprene plastic.

You Is So Dirty

Have you noticed how fast dirty, crud, and general filth accumulates around your desk? It’s a dirt magnet I tells ya. The Personal Cleaner concept by Junyi Heo is just the ticket to cleaner and healthier living. It’s basically a bamboo inspired hand vac that will look right at home on your desk. It comes with a charging cradle and the first segment pivots for better reach-around sucking. Big deal right? Actually it’s filtering the air when in its upright charging position too. Clever clever.

Designer: Junyi Heo

Texts from the designer:

This design is motivated from bamboo. I've tried to express the ecology section of bamboo. Bamboo is very useful tree. For example, It is one of the famous tree to purify turbid air.

Once the Personal cleaner is put on the charging cradle, it works as a air cleaner right away. At the air outlet located on the top part of the device, there is LED for checking battery life.

At the second joint, there is a hinge to be folded. When folded, it works as a vacuum cleaner automatically and this degree is good to use. The brush is cleverly hidden and only when folded the brush appears and good to use as vacuum cleaner. If people separate the first joint, there is the dust filter for air cleaner and vacuum cleaner.
