I am not exactly sure how much hearing loss I have suffered but I do think people tend to mumble a lot more now… or maybe I am just projecting my hearing issue onto others…what-ever, speak up! Well if you are still out there pounding away on your ear drums and head banging with the best of them, designer Shing Lo (sweet chariot) has your back covered…actually he has your ears covered with these neat-o earplugs that come packaged up in a credit card sized housing that can be carried in your wallet or sold at music venues for some ridiculously bloated price. | Posted: 16 Jul 2008 08:50 AM CDT Viktor and Rolf, well known for their unique designs in the fashion industry, were contacted by Piper-Heidsieck to create a unique twist to the design of their Limited Edition Piper Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage champagne. The result is a unique, one of a kind design that is far past ordinary champagne bottle designs. Staying true to Viktor and Rolf’s "turning things upside down" designs, the bottles top becomes the bottom and the front becomes the back. Accompanying the Rose Sauvage bottle is the inverted ice bucket and flute-turned-cocktail glass. Simply glamorous, simply Viktor and Rolf. Designer: Viktor & Rolf [ Product Page ] [ Via: Yatzer ] |
| My One Handed Thumb Controlled Camera. Ambidexterity Be Damned! Posted: 15 Jul 2008 01:33 PM CDT Mikhail Stawsky believes he has the answer to designing a truly universally comfortable camera called INDEX. All the mechanics are the same as any said camera but the body has one handle giant handle that rotates left or right, depending on your dexterity. The aperture/shutter display and trigger are all within thumb’s reach. The main part of the camera houses the lens, viewfinder, screen, and mode dial. The flash is hidden in the handle itself tho it’s size and proximity to the lens may be an issue. So What do you think? Designer: Mikhail Stawsky |
| Posted: 15 Jul 2008 01:19 PM CDT Once upon a time custom and handcrafted were hallmarks of luxury items. Today anything expensive enough for a niche group with disposable income is considered luxury, regardless of make and quality. Pierre-Thomas Lambert wants to echo that past with a concept called Unique Time. You choose the mount, face, frame, strap, and mechanics. Everything is crafted from the finest materials in the utmost detail. Truly a one of a kind Unique Time (piece). Designer: Pierre-Thomas Lambert |
| Posted: 15 Jul 2008 12:56 PM CDT You are sitting at home. You have your favorite show recorded ready to go and your favorite take-out was just delivered. It’s a cold, grey night outside but you are crinkling your toes like a kitten on weed. You are about as cozy as you can be and thanks to your good design sense and ability to create your perfect habitat. Well Bumrae Jo & Zemzem Kaya want to be a contributing factor in your perfect dwelling moments. They have designed the dreadfully named “Bezpieczenstwo - Feeling secure” radiator design that hopes to reinforce your nesting tendencies by creating…well something that looks like a nest in a tree. They even threw in an incubating egg that acts as a humidifier. Designer: Bumrae Jo & Zemzem Kaya Texts from the designer: Heat…what does it mean to us? What do we associate it with? For a moment we tried to leave the artefact ‘radiator’ behind us and concentrate on what is ‘radiated’ and how it affects us physically and emotionally. In other words, the design approach taken by us has a more meaningful searching character and we sought to apply our thoughts to a new shape. The warmness of the home is creating space for our personal development, a shelter to grow, to unfold and to ‘flower’. It’s like an incubator, like a NEST where new life has its origin. |
