| Paper To Pencil, Just Like That! Posted: 15 Sep 2010 04:41 AM PDT P&P Office Waste Paper Processor is one of those things that you wish you knew how it works, but dang! no reasonable explanation provided at all! Maybe it's a deliberate attempt on the designer teams' part, because their idea is a surefire hit! What this lovely machine does is that it converts all those useless memos on your table to something useful: A Pencil! Paper goes in from one end and come out shaped like a sexy writing tool! Sexy enough an idea to bag a Liteon Award as well! Pencil lead, power and glue are the only other things that it requires. Designers: Chengzhu Ruan, Yuanyuan Liu, Xinwei Yuan & Chao Chen ---------- |
| Heavy Shopping Bags Need Some Air For Easy Carry Posted: 15 Sep 2010 03:45 AM PDT We learnt in grade school that lesser the surface area, the more pressure it exerts and vice versa. Applying this theory to making it easy to carry heavy shopping bags, means to somehow increase the surface area of the bag-handles. I've seen people fold in a napkin to their grip, so that the bags doesn’t exert that much pressure; however Hyo-eun & Eun-seok have devised the Tube Grip instead. It's an inflatable polyvinyl chloride strip that provides supporting grip; easing the pressure on your hand. Small enough to fit into your purse, the only thing that looks grim about it is the worry of an accidental puncture. The Tube Grip Won an iF Concept Design Award 2010. | Posted: 15 Sep 2010 03:07 AM PDT There is a reason why potato peelers come with brown handles; to blend in with the peels, so that you accidentally throw it out with the trash and replace it with a new one. With a sophisticated peeler like this Rotary Peeler, I doubt any such accidents will happen. Not only is it designed really simple, it's got functionality multiplied 4 times! How? Well for starters it's got three different blade options for peeling (one for potatoes, a serrated one for soft fruits and veggies and a third to cut uber-smooth juliennes), and a potato-eye weeder. The whole peeler disassembles so that you can clean it up nice and easily. Maybe the many options of peeling and cutting juliennes will spark some creative cooking! What do you think? | Posted: 15 Sep 2010 12:10 AM PDT Everything you want in a solar cooker, it’s right here, right now, in this “Solar Ibex.” You can cook whatever you want, too, not just beans. The Solar Ibex has the ability to cook, boil, and back at up to 300 degrees celsius, and features an adjustable timer. Foldable, lightweight, packable, and a zero carbon footprint. Built-in gear motors and an auto tracking sun ray concentrator drive the parabolic reflector towards the sun at all times, acquiring all the best rays for your soups and and noodles. I’d like one of these for my apartment deck! The grill has three safety pins in place to hold whatever size pot you’d like to boil your water in, while the adjustable height works to create different heating characteristics like a concentrated beam for boiling and a spread beam for baking. 360 degrees of tracking, and three legs for ultimate stability! | Posted: 15 Sep 2010 12:03 AM PDT Behold the imperfect human body. The following is part of a collection of jewelry called “Ode to Imperfection” by Christiaan Lebens. This collection takes the lost art of appreciating the beauty of the human body, especially the aging and weathering of the skin, and turns it into fine and lovely jewelry. Made of precious materials, this collection reflects the godliness of the natural landscape of the human body. Take a peek at the images below, each of them tied to the description directly below this paragraph. One to one, two to two and everything else. One necklace and three brooches. Probably only wear two at a time, that’s my guide to “Ode to Perfection.” Love it. Ode to Impefection 1 Ode to Imperfection 2 Ode 3 Ode 4 Designer: Christiaan Lebens ---------- |
| Posted: 15 Sep 2010 12:03 AM PDT This external harddrive aims to break the traditional “box” shape and stack on into infinity. This is the conceptual “Lacie S2.0″ by seasoned Yanko veteran Pedro Gomes. The front of this magical containment device displays in its eye the amount of free space contained within as well as the drive’s name. The back is a simple combination of plugs: two USB 3.0 and a DC, and the enclosure shape is one that stacks well and looks perfectly fabulous on its own. Yes please. These’d look good anywhere, especially right next to my media center in my living room. I’ll be stacking em fifty high, daisy chained all the way to the max. Designer: Pedro Gomes ---------- |
