| Posted: 16 Sep 2010 04:58 AM PDT Salad Spoon by Joseph Joseph is a tool for tossing your fresh greens, but what makes this simple spoon clever is that its a two-part server set. Two spoons interlock as one for easy storage but open up for you to do the flamboyant act of tossing! Three really hip colors green, grey and pink; those less adventurous can have it in clear! | Posted: 16 Sep 2010 03:42 AM PDT Nodding to your command and obediently spraying out water, this is the Nodding Faucet for you. The idea is to push down the tap to start the flow and push it up, to stop. No-fuss, minimal, sleek and bare…all resonate in this design. I know some of you may argue that sensor taps will be better, since no touching is involved…for once, just lighten up and take pleasure in something different and cute! | Posted: 16 Sep 2010 03:13 AM PDT It's interesting to so how cultural practices can trigger off inspiration to design a product that can be an extension of the same. For instance in India we usually keep pickles on our window sill, to marinate and cook them in the natural heat. Whereas in China, because of their cold conditions, food is kept outside the window to preserve it, plus it frees up the kitchen space. This Chinese practice inspired Frenchman Nicolas Hubert to design the External Refrigerator. A fridge that hangs on the external wall of your home. The win-win situation here is that during winters the low temperatures help in conserving energy and keeping the fridge-items cold. And during summer, solar energy is harnessed via the solar panels, to power the fridge. If you think this concept is worth the shot, you may want to vote for it here, External Refrigerator (and 7 others) is vying for the top spot the Electrolux Design Labs Competition. The results will be announced on the 23rd September @ 100% Design London. And Yanko Design will be there to bring you the results! LIVE! Designer: Nicolas Hubert ---------- |
| Posted: 16 Sep 2010 12:10 AM PDT It’s not naked. It’s stripped. Stripped down to a minimalistic look and feel and working order. Essentials, that’s what is here. But it’s not just a stick and lick of fire, it’s a lamp, The PERCY LAMP; so it’s got some style too. It’s made to have character-like qualities, turning this functional piece of lighting into a product users feel drawn to engage with. To do this, the aesthetic draws heavily on the buttress root system of the Moreton Bay Fig Tree. The curved head and base are hand-raised from 100% recyclable sheet aluminum. This head functions as a heat sink allowing the LED to run at an optimal temperature by dissipating the generated heat over a large surface area. A moulded polyurethane carrier the lens and joint between the base and the head. Powered by an efficient 1w Cree LED light source. Adhesive-free assembly, available in raw or anodized finish. | Posted: 16 Sep 2010 12:03 AM PDT How much more simple do you want to get without there even being a tray there at all? You can’t do it! This is the simplest. This is the “Quartray” is the most minimalistic approach to holding a flask and glasses together in a solid way. You’ll have a tower of elegance, a lovely structure that’ll be the centerpiece on your dining table. Fill em up with whatever you like, but make it elegant! These are high class. Simple, super simple. Designer: Walter M Robert ---------- |
| Posted: 16 Sep 2010 12:02 AM PDT This project goes by the name “Edge” and it comes in a bunch of different colors and works wirelessly. What more could anyone want? Let’s talk about what it actually does – it’s an audio player. It’s got a USB plug and an audio jack in the back for digital music formats as well as stereo sound. Edge has the ability to play audio over Bluetooth via AirPlay. Dynamic bass for voluminous amounts of deep sound. Big open surface spaces for customizability to the max. As you can see, the first collaboration for the Edge system is with graphics group Dauerfeuer. Lots of pretty colors and arrangement of super pretty fabulous pics. Get all jacked up and blast some musical beats or movie audio or any other kind of sounds you can think of all over the place! Designers: FORMBOTEN ---------- |
