Nest Chair Made of Stainless Steel Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:59 AM PDT Take a sneak peek at Pawel Grunert’s newest creation, the Nest Chair (SIE51). As you’ve probably already can guess, the design is inspired by a nest. Handmade from stainless steel, the chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. I have no idea how comfortable it is but if it’s anything like my steel scrubber, I’ll pass. The official premier will take place at 2011 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Price on request here. Designer: Pawel Grunert ----------
Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:56 AM PDT BLANCORONIS and its unique accessory concept is utilitarianism at the highest level. The round bowl with steep bowl wall, base radius and large diameter are suitable for bulky cooking utensils. The accessories, a glass cutting board and a bridge with two dishes, can be rotated 360° so work can be carried out at any angle. One can comfortably work from the cutting board into the dishes. The accessory bridge can also be used to carry or to hold other kitchen aids, e.g. sieves. Designer: BLANCORONIS ----------
Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:51 AM PDT Here is a neat way to convert your hot steamy bath into something seductively green! The Waterfactory Bathroom Project is a set of Corian washstand, toilet and bathtub that includes an electrically powered system for filtering the humid air of the loo and condensing it to water for reuse. The water is purified via UV filtering and microfiltration, just to be double sure. Brilliant! Designer: João Gonçalves ----------
Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:50 AM PDT The Universal Plug kinda puts an end to all debates about how a plug should be designed to remind us to yank it out, once we switch off our devices. The convenient hollow center and glowing Tron-esque halo are an intuitive reminder. If nothing else, it doubles up as a cheap night-light, so I'm sold! The Universal Plug is an iF Concept Design winner! Designer: Seungwoo Kim ----------
| Posted: 14 Mar 2011 12:31 AM PDT The thought of a limb sitting on ice in a picnic cooler en route to the ER makes me cringe. Now here’s an idea that would put me a little more at ease if that ever happens. The Emergency Transporter Unit or ETU was designed for safe, sterile transportation of body parts from accident to hospital, or hospital to hospital for cadaver transplant limbs. A thermoelectric cooling system, aerogel temperature regulating insulation, and a rigid protective casing ensure all your favorite body parts the best chance of reattachment. | Posted: 14 Mar 2011 12:02 AM PDT Straight out of 007, the BES, or Black Eye Sea concept, is a response to emerging threats at sea that focuses on autonomous navigation to monitor waterways near valuable maritime assets such as navel vessels, oil rigs, or coastal power plants. The 3 jet drive speed boat and stealthy dual-engine submarine are fast and highly maneuverable, providing quick surveillance or powerful force protection if need be. Whether operating by itself or being remotely guided, the Black Eye Sea’s aim is to put human life out of harms way. Designer: Harbaoui Zoubier ---------- |
Posted: 14 Mar 2011 12:01 AM PDT Grrr, I hate doing the dishes! I never know quite where to start whether I’m loading or pushing buttons, and now that they’re so silent I can never tell if it’s actually on. The Wave was designed to be not only aesthetically appealing but it’s front fluid contours also house a super easy-to-use control panel designed to naturally guide the user into a logical sequence of actions. The aqua window and optional translucent top are a great for making sure everything is running smoothly… or at all. Designer: Guilherme Parolin ----------
