| Posted: 13 Jul 2011 08:52 AM PDT Transition is a “back to basics” sustainably made running shoe that follows the barefoot style principle. Traditional running shoes are made of 52 components. This shoe is only made of 5. By avoiding glues and complex co-moulded parts, components are easily assembled and more importantly, recycled. Transition Shoes is a 2011 IDEA Awards Winner! | Posted: 13 Jul 2011 12:51 AM PDT One of the definitions for good design is to remove the unnecessary, and this is exactly what the Minus 1 Speakers Dock for Smartphones is all about. The focus is on 'making sound' which is faithful to the natural function of a speaker, rather than obtrusive designing. A natural flow of elements and fluid sound! I'm enthralled. | Posted: 13 Jul 2011 12:37 AM PDT I'm no longer fascinated with the exquisite coffee art that my local barista offers. I'm more intrigued with the possibility of impressing my guests with pseudo skills acquired by the iCoffee Machine. A dot-matrix kinda attachment syncs with your smartphone via Bluetooth to dish out creative artwork onto of coffee foam. From Hello Kitty to the latest fad…designer coffee is right at home! Definitely my kind of cuppa! Designer: Huang Guanglei ---------- |
| Posted: 13 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT Respect and love this flat-pack, do-it-yourself design! The Mudo table is the result of an effort by designers Patrick Carmody and Kfir Shetrit to create a 3d structure out of flat sheets of material to minimize waste and reduce the overall energy use in the fabrication process. Pieces are cut out of a 1/4″ thick sheet of Masonite with plastic laminate, and because each is the opposing tessellation of its neighbor there is very little material loss in production. | Posted: 13 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT This TV remote, a winner of the 2011 red dot design award, was optimized for the revolutionary, easy-to-use SFR “Neufbox Evolution” TV service. The minimal set of buttons helps to intuitively navigate through entertainment features such as live TV, time shifting, video on demand, apps and more – even without need to look at the device or user manual. A dream come true for remote-dummies. Designer: NDS SFR Evolution – TV Experience from NDS Design on Vimeo. ---------- |
| Posted: 13 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT Designer Alexandre Pain spent an extended amount of time in a wheelchair to better understand the challenges of the disabled. The one he perceived as being the most difficult was not the limited mobility as you’d think, but the stigma associated with the easily identifiable wheelchair. The Tandem scooter may serve the same purpose, but with additional seating for one and a simple, fun, and sporty aesthetic, this electric vehicle aims to reduce the negative perception of disability by erasing the taboo of the wheelchair.
