Half-sized Sheets of Toilet Paper Posted: 12 Aug 2011 08:30 AM PDT I’m a big fan of paper towels perforated into smaller sizes because not every mess demands a giant square sheet but can toilet paper benefit from the same design? HowGee looks like every other roll of toilet paper but the sheets are perforated at half-sizes. Ultimately the designers hope by letting you choose how much to use, you’ll save paper. So let’s think about what we use toilet paper for because lets be frank, not every “mess” in the bathroom demands a full-size sheet right? RIGHT? Posted: 12 Aug 2011 08:24 AM PDT Steil is a conceptual sled with easy-carry straps designed for multiple sitting positions. Just check out the pictures after the jump. Doesn’t the guy look like he’s having fun? Oooh! I got a story. Gather ’round kids. When I was 9, I woke up to snow falling in Texas (yes it snows in Texas). I grabbed my sled and attempted to glide on a sheet of ice in the driveway. Needless to say, I ended up bruised and dented the family car. From then on I decided snow was no longer my friend and blamed my imagery friend “Matt” for the fiasco. Designer: Benedikt Löwenstein Fernando Cruz Crespo ---------- |

Posted: 12 Aug 2011 05:24 AM PDT I'm all for tidy exercise equipment at home or at work and this Bar&Dumbbell fits the bill right. In one clever re-design shift of merging designs, two heavy-duty gym equipments get an aesthetic new avatar and occupy much lesser space. Very clever! Designer: Jun Hyun Kim ---------- |
Posted: 12 Aug 2011 04:53 AM PDT The Air Module is a very simple speaker design that requires no power supply! Yea, you got that right! It has a rubber brake, wood and ceramic system that allows it to modulate sound. Have a look at the pictures inside and you will know what I mean. So basically the module just envelops your iPhone (or any other device) and pipes out the music in rhythm. Cool! Designer: Arthur Trichelieu ---------- |
Posted: 12 Aug 2011 01:00 AM PDT The Masterpiece Pad is a great take on the doodle pad that features a variety of whimsical frames that instantly give each piece a sense of permanence, encouraging the drawer to keep their work of art. Fold the pre-cut flaps, insert the tabs that hold it together and voila- you’ve got your own doodle masterpiece! Designer: Benjamin Parton ---------- |
Posted: 12 Aug 2011 12:02 AM PDT To help preserve wildlife and the environment, the Oceanic Cleaning System uses solar power and automated satellite units to seek out and capture plastic particles and man-made waste. Inspired by cuttlefish, the satellites use lateral fins to maneuver through the water, collecting plastic and other debris. After waste is collected, the units navigate back to the base where it is deposited and sorted for recycling. Designer: Erik Borg ---------- |
DIY, FLat-pack Bamboo and Glass Posted: 12 Aug 2011 12:01 AM PDT Gotta love this simple, flat-pack, DIY design by designer Tamara Petrovic. The Star Table is the result of a study in form triangulation and features light frame construction that consists of 4 thin planes that interlock to form a lightweight, strong and stable base.
