Posted: 18 Aug 2011 12:53 AM PDT I have seen plenty of warning sign concepts and some innovative enough to include LED. But this one takes the cake for being simple and effective! Just look at it, the sign indicates exactly which way you need to divert by pointing out an LED Arrow to the right direction. Left or right…you get to set it, depending upon your broken-down vehicle's position. Awesome! Designer: Ye Luo ---------- |
Posted: 18 Aug 2011 12:38 AM PDT The Hourglass Device is a new-age method of keeping the family together, especially during dinner times. It comprises of a sensor device modeled on the sand-hourglass timer and an affiliated app for the family gadgets. So basically when someone gets cooking in the kitchen, the aromas automatically trigger the sensors in the Hourglass and notifies the rest of the family what's cooking. A good way to get my son to the dinner table on time! Gwendolyn explains, "The hardware components consist of simple technology to make the product cheap (i.e. non-touch screen). When the hourglass is in range to a device, it will auto-launch an app or website via Wifi/NFC signal. The software for the device is a cloud network that sends simple programmable codes to operate the hourglass. For any graphic customizing or timer programs the user can access it online to easily modify (different screens, sounds, programs, family network, etc.) The idea is to revolutionize an old basic object that we cherish into a proactive connective object: wristwatches, calendars, digital note pads, jewelry, remote controls, desk clocks, picture frames, etc. These objects can contain the simple hardware components while its software is online in the cloud; this allows designers to remove any complicated set-up displays on tiny screens, menu keys, or other unnecessary buttons." The often overlooked piece becomes the base of this elegant design that might just make you wonder which way is up and which way is down! Designer: Benjamin Parton ---------- |
Posted: 18 Aug 2011 12:01 AM PDT The A0 Monocycle, a project sponsored by Audi Design Research Munich, is aimed at the Audi driver that in combination with their vehicle would allow maximum mobility in the urban environment. The compact and lightweight electric cycle folds to fit any Audi trunk, and can be quickly removed, unfolded and driven to the user’s next destination. With a unique user position above the central axle and adjustable seat and handlebars, the A0 can accommodate almost any rider. The folded footrest also works as a stand to keep the monocycle upright when not being used. Integrated day lights add character to the sides, and a automatic sensor activates headlights and brake lights for safe nighttime riding. Designer: Angel Sánchez Vargas ---------- |
Posted: 18 Aug 2011 12:01 AM PDT This modern ceiling rose and moulding design by Geoffrey Lhoest is a twist on the classics that plays with the concepts of interconnection and modularity. When combined, the ceiling rose and modular moulding gives new life to walls and ceilings by bridging all 3 dimensions of the space. A minimalist design that gives a sense of fluidity and movement that will accent both classic and contemporary spaces. Apart from its purely aesthetic aspect, the ceiling rose concentrates all of the innovation of the concept. The angular indication every 5 degrees on the reverse face facilitates Combined with mouldings, these new elements trace a linear path that plays with the limits of the space. The symmetry of the profile enable simple crossings, while the ceiling rose makes it possible to create more than 100 different combinations. Designer: Geoffroy Lhoest ---------- |
