| Union Jack Tap And More Creative Ideas Posted: 22 Sep 2010 05:44 AM PDT It's quite unusual to think of faucets as creative elements, high-end designer goodies – yes, but not creative! Well the Joint Jack Tap Concept breaks that myth with its fun outlook and creativity. Basically it's just three elements (tap, hot and cold mixers) mounted on spherical joints, allowing you to rotate them in many different ways. “It looks like a group of figures in ancient Russian folk sport “Gorodki” or anti-tank obstacle or British flag (Union Jack) in some positions!” Union Jack is quite amusing…don't you think? | Posted: 22 Sep 2010 04:17 AM PDT The Control Safety Traffic Light Concept features an LED display that gradually changes the colors from Red to Green, with the Amber (or Yellow) fading in and out; between the changes. Solar panels and a security camera are integrated into the design for obvious reasons, and the whole thing works in conjunction with similarly designed pedestrian lights. Two features make this different from rest of the concepts seen before; emergency vehicles (police, ambulance, fire brigade trucks) are detected from a distance via "smart sensors" and thus the lights change automatically to facilitate their quick passage. The other thing is that it can display info like road condition, weather, etc., for the drivers sitting idle at the stop sign. Designer: Roberto Vackflores for CRAB Diseño Industria ---------- |
| Posted: 22 Sep 2010 03:38 AM PDT Question: what does a courier delivery guy need for short-distance deliveries? Answer: an easy transport system that will carry his load of parcels and letters, park in a jiffy and be a steady companion. A City Jumper! This is a bike with a front storage box, 24-inch rear wheel, GPRS navigation frame and oodles of style! Since the front box does not rotate with the handlebars, it is easy to maneuver the bike. And for better stability of the bicycle body when parking, the kickstand has been moved towards the front. However there is something that I have learnt from you YD readers, we can't really judge the efficiency of any cycle concept until we see a working prototype. *City Jumper Cycle has nothing to do with DHL, images are only for representation. | Posted: 22 Sep 2010 12:12 AM PDT In an aim to renew the use of so called traditional materials, designer Rodrigo Vairinhos of Neo Design presents this lovely yellow lamp that goes by the name “Longo.” Look at the elegance! Vairinhos informs us that the creation of this project is ecologically friendly, tying the always classic ceramic with the relatively new excellence of LED light. And it’s not just in yellow! Hooray for white/white, white/black, AND white/yellow. What a strange shape for a lamp. Very neat, yes? Material: ceramic Designer: Rodrigo Vairinhos of Neo Design ---------- |
| Posted: 22 Sep 2010 12:10 AM PDT Bike maestro designer Omer Sagiv has another treat for us all. This one goes by the name “ReCycle Me” and is a fold-up plastic city bike. Created using only recycleable moulded plastic, its potential impact on the environment is minimal. It features a single gear system for all you new-age bikers and those with no money for maintenance and a dynamo for powering the lights. Then using the full advantage of injection moulding technology, the bike has front, rear, and inbuilt seat suspensions. Easily folded and reduced down in size for ease in traveling and storing away in the closet, right next to your bike helmet. ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET! Please and thank you! | Posted: 22 Sep 2010 12:10 AM PDT You know those little ladders, the ones made of wood held together with strips of material in a way that if you hold one up, another one goes *cluck cluck cluck* all the way down to the bottom? Well here’s something sort of kind of like that, but this one’s a lot less cluck and a lot more flexible storage solution for the modern home. “Maroma” modular furniture as it’s called is made of plywood and cotton straps, made so that the user is free to configure it however’s most convenient (or fun) for them. Heck, it’d be impossible not to have fun with these. I dare you. The inspiration for this project did indeed come from what designer Daniel Romero Valencia knows as “Magic Sticks” – the toy originating in Mexico rather than where I know it to have originated from, that being my aunt’s closet drawer. I trust Valencia’s knowledge more than my own in this case. The Maroma is currently manufactured by PIRWI in certified plywood with a biodegradable finish and cotton straps dyed with vegetable colorants; over 90% of the material used to make it of natural origin.
