The Zoomin Watch is such a brilliant concept, not only is the idea of magnifying nubs on the hands a superb idea, but also the design execution is sleek and sophisticated. Not for a single moment does it look like a watch intended for the Silver Generation…if anything it looks like cool wrist gear that will appeal to all generations. Designers, take a bow! Designers: Gennady Martynov & Emre Cetinkoprulu ---------- |
Posted: 16 Mar 2011 07:28 AM PDT Any bustling metropolis faces loads of pedestrians waiting at busy intersections for their turn to cross the road. Designer Li Ming feels that there is a lot waiting time wasted and we can utilize it as "meaningful time", perhaps with some exercise and fun. A stretch here and a pull there… like synchronized yoga asana! By the time the lights turn green, you're the next Jane Fonda! Designer: Li Ming Hsing ----------
Fascinating Kinetic Architecture Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:05 AM PDT This is one of the most interesting building concepts I’ve seen in a while. The Kinetower’s exterior window elements respond to sunlight or user control much in the same way a flower blooms in the morning, transforming it’s hard facade into a softer and almost unrecognizable version of it’s former self. The metamorphosis is made possible by the use of material that is rigid when taut but flexible enough to bend. This is dynamic design at it’s best. Designer: Kinetura ----------
Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:04 AM PDT The Saline Airstream is the brainchild of design team Les Triplettes de Bonneville and it has all the markings of French peculiarity and boldness. The raw, utilitarian, stripped-down appearance has more than a hint of cafe racer. This motorbike certainly showcases the “savoir-faire” of the designers- fingers crossed that the rider has the same know-how. Designers: Vincent Montreuil, Julien Clément, Thomas Duhamel, Benoît Ponton, Pierrick Huart ----------
Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:01 AM PDT A coffee mug… duh. Sip your favorite cup o’ joe in one of these ceramic sculptures by Jerome Olivet, appropriately named Speed, Flight, Skin, Attraction, Snake, Abstract, and Bimbo. Match the name to the mug. Designer: Jerome Olivet ----------
