| Posted: 15 Jun 2011 08:58 AM PDT Launch of a whole new electric go kart that can fold up and fit in the back of your car. Designed and engineered to look and feel like a formula one car, this go-kart only weighs 65 pounds. The entire chassis and body work are made from carbon fiber, and lightweight lithium batteries power this racer to a top speed of 60 mph. The chassis is designed to fold up into a package of only 30" x 30" x 15," this is achieved by quick disconnects of the rims and steering wheel and folding the chassis in half. DO WANT! | Posted: 15 Jun 2011 08:57 AM PDT The Time Flows clock is an “interesting” clock because it’s haunting how the hours and minutes trail behind. Problem is, even with the animation (hit the jump), I still have no idea how to read it. Any ideas? Here’s what the designer said; “This clock lets us know the hour and the minute but all the unncessary things. Designer: Byung Min Kim ---------- |
| Posted: 15 Jun 2011 03:33 AM PDT After its useful life, a weighing machine generates a lot of wasteful scrap that can be limited, if we revisit the design. An out-of-the-box solution is the Water Climb; a scale that uses water, a watertight bag and cylindrical marked glass tube. Using the laws of physics for its functioning, the project calls for an Archimedes moment and maybe some applause. My only worry is that the scale shouldn't wobble too much under my heavy weight! | Posted: 15 Jun 2011 03:19 AM PDT The Scroll Bookshelf is one of the most basic ways of managing your books in a tidy fashion. A metal sheet covered with a plastic sleeve and two sturdy end-rolls is what its all about. Unfurl the sheet and stack em books! And look! The ends have secret chambers to hold pens and other trinkets. Cute! Designers: Xin-Hung Lin, Pei-Yi Chiu, Chia-Rung Shu, & Wung-Bing Lin ---------- |
| Posted: 15 Jun 2011 01:49 AM PDT What will the future of information technology look like? Sound like? Behave like? Designer Lukas Franciszkeiwicz envisions a minimal, shape sorter, toy-like instrument adapted for the social networking revolution that also makes a profound statement about our modern addiction to digital interaction & how computers already dictate our decisions. Fusing mind & machine, Beta is one glimpse into how our future relationships might be with such technological concepts that may be able to predict our responses. Beta reduces the interaction between human & machine to the three basic needs: consumption of content, communication, and processing data. Technical reflection is substituted by physical intuition. | Posted: 15 Jun 2011 12:01 AM PDT Inspired by quantum physics, the Quantum table is an interpretation of what the movement or path of subatomic particles might look like. The lacquered orange corian top is supported in sharp contrast by the turbulent flux of the hand formed steel wire base in powder-coated black. Designer: Jason Phillips ---------- |
| Posted: 15 Jun 2011 12:01 AM PDT The Feccia Mela wall-suspended dish by designers Andrea Maffezzoni and Nicola Loi makes for a great decorative way to put your fruit on display. Made of corian or aluminum this playful design has a humorous quaity and is sure to be a conversation starter. Kinda reminds me of William Tell! Designers: Andrea Maffezzoni & Nicola Loi ---------- |
